Yanaha Island is an uninhabited island located about 1.3 kilometers south of Izena district, Izena Island. It is a flat island with a circumference of about 5.3 meters, a land area of 9.82 square kilometers, and a sandy hill with an altitude of 12 meter. A group of cycad grows on the northern side of the island, while banyan and adan trees grow thick on the western side. A reservoir and an old well that were used a long time ago remain in the central part of the island. There is a legend that ten Noros (shamans) from Izena Island visited and spent the night at the Takanomi Utagi (a place of worship) in December every year to pray for the prosperity of the royal family of the Ryukyu Kingdom.
