
Miyagi island (Miyagijima) it is called in the middle
of Henza Island and Ikei Island, was Takahanari
before. It is a hill island about 100m high. It has 4 villages Uehara,
Miyagi, Tobaru and Ikemi. There are the Shigumu ruin and the Takamine
ruin, it is regarded that inhabitant lived here in the old days. The criminal
was exiled to Miyagi Island in the Ryukyu dynasty period A lot of people
emigrated from Miyagi island to over seas. In 1974, the surface between
Henna and Miyagi reclaim land from the sea, it connected to Yokes peninsula
through the road on the sea. The main agricultural product is sugar cane,
the fishery by Sabani (small boat in Okinawa).
