Tsuken Island is located
5km southeast of Katsuren peninsula. The Altitude of the island is 39m
and is famous for carrot's island. In 1981, land reclamation was
completed. During the Battle of Okinawa, the island was used as the fortress
to defend Okinawa Island and became the site of a bloodiest combat. After
the end of the war, the island's residents were forced to move to Haebaru
area in Okinawa Island and were not allowed to come back to the island
until 1950. Tomai hama, the most beautiful beach in Okinawa is popular
among young people who love marine sports.
