1)The design is transferred to a thin piece of paper and
then used as an underdrawing. Start cutting with the finer
details
2)Reinforce stencils by sticking Sha (silk gauze)
3)Place rice-paste on the stencil for resist dyeing
4)Place colors where paste is not applied
5)Shade off colors with brush to add 3-dimensional impression
6)Cover dyed patterns with paste
7)Apply Gojiru (soya bean liquid) in order to prevent
the color from blurring
8)Fix the color by steaming
9)Steam again to fix dye and pigment and wash with water

Dye patterns and background with one paste placing
Kaeshi-gata
Dye with Hakuji-gata once, then dye background with covering
the patterns with paste
Hakuji-gata
One paste placing, dyeing the patterns and only leaving
the background white.
