One Man Play

Description
After WWII, "Suyanu Baabaa" began to be staged as a short play as an intermission between the acts. This short play is acted by one or two performer(s). When acted by one, the performer acts two roles by changing his/her voice tone. Buten Onaha, Yoshiko Hazama, Takezo Toma are said to be brilliant among those who have acted Suyanu BaaBaa. Since "Shimaduchi" was acted by Sumiko Kitajima, hitori-shibai has been recognized and has acquired a wide reputation. Currently Taeko Yoshida and Hayato Fujiki are known as outstanding performers in this area.
