Pinan (1st-5th Dan) This was created by Anko Itosu (1831-1915) around 1907 as a kata for instruction at junior high schools. Basic techniques were taken from each of the major traditional kata, including Kusanku, Passai and Chinto and combined into this training kata. This kata is widely used in the Shuri-te Style. |
