Sanseiryu
This kata is also called Sandairui. Sanseiryu
is the most advanced Uechi-ryu kata. It is said that only
those who have a high Dan rank can survive the training
required to master it. The motion preparing for enemies attacking
from all sides creates a protean and wonderful truth, and the
enbu line, forming by a circle crossed by straight lines,
is brilliant. The defensive and offensive motions to be rolled
out are so exquisite, and the fumikomi (stamping kick)
motion is so dynamic, the kata becomes almost heroic. There
are a variety of postures, including shizen-dachi (natural
stance), zenkutsu-dachi (front stance), nekoashi-dachi
(cat paw stance), and suegoshi (plunking). The motions
involved are a fusion of faster and slower paces. Power and speed,
in addition to the beauty of persistence, blend together within
the enbu line. It's a moving art indeed.
