| Chikin Sunakachi or Ekudi is a form of kobu jutsu
that was developed by fishermen. It uses a wide range of techniques,
many of which are adaptations of bo jutsu techniques. One
characteristic move is called sunakake, in which you first
carry out metsubushi (eye smashing) by splashing seawater
in your opponent's face when at sea or tossing sand if on a sandy
beach, and then immediately carry out a slashing attack. The difference
from the bo (long stick), is that you can conduct a cutting
technique using the eku (oar). Is makes it an extremely practical
weapon full of destruction power in the hands of an Ekudi
master. Kata include Chikin sunakachi ekudi, and Chikin
akacchu ekudi. |
