Ginowan City and Military Bases
Located at the junction point of the central and southern regions of mainland Okinawa, Ginowan was called the "land of root," as it was where politics, economy and culture had taken their roots in the 13th century -- King Satto's era. As if to explain its fathomless history, many cultural assets and excavation sites remain. Take a long walk in the city and you will see that every one of the narrow alleys leads to the good old days of Okinawa.
