"Life is A Treasure House"
Ie Island was one of the fiercest battlegrounds during the Battle of Okinawa. Even after the war, the island was governed by the U.S. military and utilized as a tactical exercise ground. Many locals fell victim to accidents involving live bombs, and that fear continues to this day. However, the islanders do not let the sorrowful history dampen their lives and live everyday in high spirits and full of energy. The island is a paradise, where people accept and share everything, just letting the will of nature decide as it is bestowed upon them.
